An Original Vintage Theatrical Kraftbacked Folded Three-Sheet Movie Poster (3sh; measures 41" x 81" [104 x 206 cm]) (Learn More)

Jungle Siren, the 1942 Sam Newfield jungle adventure romantic comedy starring Ann Corio, Buster Crabbe, Evelyn Wahl, Milton Kibbee, and Paul Bryar. Note that Ann Corio was a famous stripper at Minsky's Burlesque Theater in New York City. In 1940, she was said to have been paid $1,000 a week, plus a percentage of the gross! She appeared in a handful of movies in the early 1940s, and this was one of them.

If you know who did the art (if any), please let us know.
Important Added Info: Note that this poster is almost certainly one printed by either "Leader Press", or one of the other similar companies that created posters in the 1930s and 1940s (they would create their own posters for distribution in a specific area of the country). Normally, you can tell the company that created the poster by looking at the bottom edge of it, but you can't do that in this case, because there is kraft paper over the bottom edge (see below). Please do not bid on this poster thinking it is a studio-issued poster! Note that this three-sheet was printed in 3 sections designed to overlap. Also note that this poster has been kraftbacked, which means it was backed onto a brown paper soon after it was printed (this process is called "kraft-backing", and posters with it are called "kraft-backed"). One could have it professionally removed from the kraft paper and linenbacked, and it would look great!

Condition: good. After the poster was mounted onto the kraft paper, the borders of the kraft paper were folded over the front of the borders of the poster and glued down. There is a censor snipe glued to the upper right and lower center, and a censor stamp in the top right corner and at middle right. A restorer can remove the poster from the kraft paper and properly linenback it, after which it will look great!
