An Original 1955 (from the first release of this movie in Spain) Vintage Theatrical Spanish Movie Herald (measures 3" x 7 1/4" [8 x 18 cm]; 4pg) (Learn More) The Black Shield of Falworth, the 1954 Rudolph Mate Universal medieval adventure thriller ("All the vast pageantry and towering excitement the thundering thrills of knighthood's epic age!"; "The epic story of Myles Falworth... who pledged his life to save a throne... and his love to win a fabulous beauty!"; "All the pageantry and excitement of Knighthood's epic age!"; based on the book 'Men of Iron' by Howard Pyle) starring Tony Curtis (as a knight with a Brooklyn accent!), Janet Leigh, David Farrar, Barbara Rush, Herbert Marshall, Torin Thatcher, Daniel O'Herlihy, and Rhys Williams. Note that there is a long-standing rumor that Curtis badly mangles the line "Yonder lies the castle of my father" as "Yonda lies the castle of my faddah." However, a collector tells us that line is not even in the film, but there is a similar line in Son of Ali Baba which was pronounced correctly. Also note that stars Tony Curtis and Janet Leigh had been married since 1951, three years before this movie was released. NOTE: Click on linked names to see a biography. Artist: MCP Important Added Info: Note that when Spanish heralds have printing on the back, we picture both sides, but when they are blank on the back, we only picture the front. Please note that Spanish heralds, like U.S. heralds, were printed in very large quantities, and then sent to individual theaters in Spain, and they would sometimes have the backs of them overprinted with their theater name and specific play dates. But because a movie might play in Spain for a period of a year or two (traveling from theater to theater), there is no guarantee that the date overprinted on the back of the herald is the same as the date that the herald was first printed (and the date that the movie first played in Spain). Therefore, we don't list the date overprinted on the back of a herald as the date of the herald unless we know that was when the movie first played in Spain. If we believe the herald was printed earlier, then we use that date. If it is important to you that the date on the herald is the date the movie first opened, then please look at our image of the back of this herald to see if there is a different date printed on it.
