Date Sold 2/3/2015Sold For: Login or Register to see sold price. An Original Undated (probably late 1947; from the first release of this movie in Italy) Vintage Theatrical Folded Italian Movie Poster (measures 39" x 81" [99 x 206 cm]) (Learn More) The Talk of the Town, the 1942 George Stevens romantic love triangle crime comedy ("Romance vibrantly alive! Drama poignantly real! Laughter joyously human!"; "Three people who make life more exciting.... love more precious... laughter more joyous!"; "A motion picture made for laughs... thrills... cheers!"; "Great stars bring you a heart-stir-ring screen adventure!"; "Screen play by Irwin Shaw and Sidney Buchman"; nominated for the Best Picture Academy Award; about an eminent law professor who is staying at the home of a school teacher, and he lets a gardener stay there as well, but the gardener is actually an escapee from a prison, and eventually, the professor and the teacher learn of his true identity, and the professor clears him of the charges against him, even though it means he will lose the school teacher to him romantically; this was a good movie that was made better by the tremendous "star power" of the three lead actors!) starring Cary Grant, Jean Arthur, Ronald Colman, Edgar Buchanan, Glenda Farrell, Tom Tyler, and Charles Dingle NOTE: Click on linked names to see a biography. If you know who did the art (if any), please let us know. Important Added Info: Note that we can't say for certain when this poster is from, but it is certainly from the first Italian release, likely from right after World War II. Note that Italian posters from the first few years after World War II are among the most rare posters there are! Apparently, there were still major paper shortages in Italy, and few posters were printed, and most were recycled. This is an extremely rare first release Italian poster from after the war, and like most Italian posters from that time, it is an unusual size (they did not standardize sizes for several more years). It is basically a "horizontal 3-sheet", and it is clearly a "teaser" type poster, and it certainly has a very interesting image! If anyone knows more about this poster, please e-mail us and we will post it here. Condition: fair. The poster is very fragile and has separation, tears, and some tiny paper loss on parts of many foldlines. The poster is in urgent need of expert professional restoration. But the poster is mostly "all there", and after linenbacking by a talented professional, the poster will look fantastic, and it will likely require little paint restoration within the image. Please do not bid on this poster unless you can accept its defects described above or are willing to pay to have them properly restored! Learn More about condition grades
