An Original Vintage Studio Booking Letter (measures 8 1/2" x 11"; 1 page) (Learn More) Columbia Pictures is the studio founded in 1918 by Harry Cohn, his brother Jack, and Joe Brandt. It was originally called CBC Film Sales Corporation, and in its early days, it produced low budget movies. But in 1924, Harry Cohn bought out Joe Brandt, and renamed the company Columbia Pictures Corporation, and he took Columbia from a Poverty Row studio to one of the better studios, partially thanks to having the services of ace director Frank Capra! Important Added Info: Note that this is one of a collection of 18 letters from 18 different studios to theater owners in the 1920s confirming their booking of specific movies. These represent a fascinating look into how the film and theater business worked at that time! The 18 letters are being auctioned in 18 separate auctions. Note that, in this case, the letter just lists specific movies that were being rented. Condition: good to very good. Learn More about condition grades
