Date Sold 6/4/2017Sold For: Login or Register to see sold price. An Original Vintage Glass Slide (measures 3 1/4" x 4" [8 x 10 cm]) (Learn More) Metro Pictures Corporation was an American motion picture production company from 1916 to 1924. Through a series of mergers, the studio eventually became Metro-Goldwyn-Mayer in 1925. Important Added Info: Note that Metro Pictures did a cool promotion in 1916, where they gave everyone who went to a theater on a specific day (which they dubbed "Metro Day") a free copy of Metro Pictures Magazine, which normally cost 5 cents. The slide shows an image of an issue that has "Little Mary Miles Minter starring in Emmy of Stork's Nest" on the cover! Also note that glass slides were designed to be put in a special projector that would project the image onto a movie screen (they use exactly the same concept as 35mm slides). This slide is the kind that has two panes of glass that are taped together with black tape around all four edges (front and back), typical of many older glass slides. We have provided a high quality scan of the image, but we have not taken a photo of the slide, because there would really be very little to see! Condition: very good. There is slight smudging on the glass (it is not very distracting, and it could likely be cleaned). Otherwise, the slide is in pretty nice condition! Learn More about condition grades
