A Linenbacked Belgian Travel Poster (measures 24 1/4" x 39 1/4" [62 x 100 cm]) (Learn More)

En Angleterre via Ostende-Douvres (literally translates to "In England via Ostend-Dover"), the 1935 Belgian poster created by the Havas Travel Agency to encourage people to travel by sea from Ostend, Belgium to Dover, England. Note that this poster features T. E. Lemaire art of a couple traveling to England
Artist: T.E. Lemaire
Important Added Info: Note that we know this poster was reprinted in the 1950s, and someone wrote "1956" in the excess linen at the top of the poster. We have seen images of a 1950s reprinting, and that poster has a blank bottom border, while this poster has the same printing in the bottom border that the 1935 first printing had. But since the paper quality seems much more likely to be from the 1950s, and since we have the added info of the date written in the excess linen, we think it is more likely that this is from different reprinting with the original bottom border printing (possibly from 1956). If anyone knows more about this, please e-mail us and we will post it here.

Overall Condition and Pre-Restoration Defects with Quality of Restoration: very good. The poster was never folded. It had some pretty minor border wear. Overall, the poster was in very good condition prior to linenbacking. The restorer backed the poster "in the European style", meaning that they did not do restoration to the defects described above.
