An Original Vintage English Movie Souvenir Program Book (measures 10" x 12 3/4" [25 x 32 cm]; 17 pages) (Learn More)

Tangled Hearts, the 1916 Joseph De Grasse silent romantic love triangle melodrama ("A well-intentioned game of friendly deception - in which Fate shuffles and Love bankrupts Tragedy in the last deal"; about two couples from the idle rich, and one of them discovers that his friend had fathered the child he thought was his, which makes him want to kill him, but when he tries to shoot him, he accidentally shoots his wife instead, but she recovers, and they all forgive each other) starring Louise Lovely (billed as "The most beautiful actress on the screen"), Agnes Vernon, Lon Chaney Sr. (as the man whose wife is unfaithful to him), Marjorie Ellison, and Hayward Mack. Note that after appearing in dozens of minor film roles in 1913 to 1916, Lon Chaney finally got a few starring roles, and this was one of his earliest "better" roles. It would not be for several more years before he started to get lead roles in crime movies, and of course, it was not until the early 1920s that he became a major horror actor! Also note that this movie is almost completely "lost" (only a few minuets of it exist).

Artist: Burton Rice
Important Added Info: Note that this program includes a great image of Lon Chaney, with a caption on it reading "Lon Chaney as Robert Hammond"! There are also other pictures of Chaney in the program. Also note that we have pictured the front cover and an interior 2-page spread from this program.

Condition: very good. The covers have some wear around the edges and the interior pages have a few faint brown dot stains, but otherwise, the program is in pretty nice condition, especially considering it is just under 100 years old!
