eMoviePoster.comAuction History Result 8c791 SEALED CARGO Aust daybill '51 art of Dana Andrews & Carla Balenda, with exploding ship! Date Sold 4/16/2013Sold For: Login or Register to see sold price. An Original Vintage Theatrical Folded Australian Daybill Movie Poster (db; measures 13" x 30" [33 x 76 cm]) (Learn More) Sealed Cargo, the 1951 Alfred L. Werker World War II (WWII) Navy Naval sailor crime melodrama ("Cargo that blasts the sea wide open!"; "Savage passions aflame in the North Atlantic... unleashed by treachery... hate... violence!"; "A beautiful woman learns what it means to be held captive!"; "Based on the Saturday Evening Post story 'The Gaunt Woman'") starring Dana Andrews, Carla Balenda, Claude Rains, Philip Dorn, Onslow Stevens, Skip Homeier, and Steve Forrest (billed as "Bill Andrews"). Note that Brad Dexter was an unknown actor appearing at the Pasadena Playhouse at the time this movie was made. He was cast for the movie, but he was cut out of the film. But fortunately for him, he was cast in The Asphalt Jungle, in a small but key role, and that got him noticed, and led to his long successful career, including as one of the Magnificent Seven! NOTE: Click on linked names to see a biography. If you know who did the art (if any), please let us know. Important Added Info: Note that this poster has full-bleed borders on the left and right and has NOT been trimmed. This was done by RKO with their daybills in the 1940s and early 1950s. Advanced Australian collectors tell us that this is how all the daybills of this title were created. Please do not bid on this daybill thinking that it has been trimmed as it certainly was not. Condition: very good. There are some tiny tears around the edges of the poster and there are minor creases scattered throughout (mostly along the foldlines and edges).
