An Original Vintage Theatrical Linenbacked French Large Movie Poster (31x47; measures 31 1/4" x 47 1/4" [79 x 120 cm]) (Learn More) Gueule d'amour (released in English-speaking countries as "Lady Killer"), the 1937 Jean Gremillon French Foreign Legion military romantic melodrama (about a soldier in the French Foreign Legion who is very successful with women, and he meets a woman who falls for him, but it turns out that she has many conquests herself, and she drops him, and he goes after her after he gets out of the service, but out of uniform she is not interested in him) starring Jean Gabin, Mireille Balin, Pierre Etchepare, Henri Poupon, and Jean Ayme. Note that Jean Gabin and Mireille Balin starred in the very successful Pepe Le Moko, released earlier that same year, and in both movies, she is his downfall! Learn More Overall Condition and Pre-Restoration Defects with Quality of Restoration: good to very good. The poster had darkened overall, more so on the folds, typical of French posters of this period. It had tiny paper loss at the crossfolds and some tiny tears and tiny bits of paper loss on parts of several folds. It had some black smudges in the lower right that appear to be a printing defect. Overall, the poster was in good to very good condition prior to linenbacking. The restorer backed the poster "in the European style", meaning that they did not do restoration to the defects described above, but they are really not very distracting (and a talented restorer could touch them up without re-backing the poster).
