BOOK SOLD OUT
The image at right appears in the book we published as shown above. While we once owned this item, we did not auction it through eMoviePoster.com (which is why no price or date is listed) nor do we have it available for purchase.

Liebe Im Ring (released in the U.S. in 1936 as "Love in the Ring"), the 1930 Reinhold Schunzel German romantic love triangle boxing sports melodrama (an early version of the most common boxing story, about a young man who is torn between his decent girlfriend, and the evil vamp who wants him if he can become a boxing champion!) starring Max Schmeling, Renate Muller, Olga Tschechowa, Frida Richard, and Rudolf Biebrach. Note that Max Schmeling had been a German professional boxer starting in 1924, and he came to the U.S. in 1928, and he won the heavyweight champion in 1930 when Jack Sharkey was disqualified for a low blow. That made him a major German celebrity, and he was rushed into this movie, and by all accounts, he did a fine job in the lead role. In 1932, he lost the title back to Sharkey, and in 1933, Schmeling lost to Max Baer, and it seemed he was finished. But in 1936, he knocked out Joe Louis, which made him the number one contender for the heavyweight title. So this movie was released for the first time in the U.S. after he beat Joe Louis, due to the renewed interest in Schmeling. He would fight Louis for the championship in 1937, but Schmeling was knocked out in the first round. Schmeling was champion by Adolf Hitler, and he joined the Luftwaffe, but after the war, Schmeling became good friends with Joe Louis! He died in 2005 at the age of 99.
