An Original Vintage Theatrical Movie Paper Banner (measures 24" x 84" [61 x 213 cm]) (Learn More) The Searching Wind, the 1946 William Dieterle pre-World War II (WWII) romantic love triangle melodrama ("From Hal Wallis, Producer of 'Saratoga Trunk' 'Love Letters' and 'Casablanca'"; "From the celebrated Stage Hit by Lillian Hellman", who also wrote the screenplay; "Hal Wallis' Production"; set in Europe in the 1920s and 1930s, and about the dangers of isolationism, and ignoring the threat of fascism, a common theme in Hellman's works) starring Robert Young, Sylvia Sidney, Ann Richards, Dudley Digges, and Douglas Dick (billed as "Introducing Douglas Dick") NOTE: Click on linked names to see a biography. If you know who did the art (if any), please let us know. Important Added Info: Note that in the late 1940s, studios began making paper banners that measure 24" x 84", and were printed on a heavy stock, similar to that used for 40x60s. Many people believe they were created for the huge drive-in market that was growing rapidly at this time. This poster is printed on regular one-sheet-like paper on a single huge 24" x 84" sheet! We have never seen a paper banner like this before we were consigned two of them in June of 2015. Given that it dates from a few years before the "regular" paper banners became standard, we suspect they started out making them like this, and then when they got all torn up due to their large size, they switched to the heavier stock.
