An Original 1916 (from the first release of this movie in Denmark) Vintage Theatrical Danish Movie Program (measures 5 1/2" x 8 1/4" [14 x 21 cm]; 8 pages) (Learn More) A Film Johnnie, the 1914 George Nichols slapstick silent comedy short (about a man who goes to a movie and falls in love with one of the actresses, so he goes to the studio that made the movie, Keystone Studios, looking for her, and he disrupts the making of a movie, because he thinks it is real!; there are cameos from the stars of Keystone Studios, playing themselves) starring Charlie Chaplin (in the title role as the Film Johnnie), Roscoe 'Fatty' Arbuckle, Peggy Pearce, Mabel Normand, and Ford Sterling. Note that this was Charlie Chaplin's fourth movie ever, and he was still not really successful or a regular member of the studio. One of his fellow actors in the movie was Fatty Arbuckle, who had been a star for a year! The title of the movie, "A Film Johnnie", refers to the common expression at the time, "Stage Door Johnnie", which referred to rich men who would wait after stage shows to try to date the pretty actresses and dancers. So it was an inside joke in calling him "A Film Johnnie", because you can't wait outside the film, because the actresses aren't there in person! NOTE: Click on linked names to see a biography. Important Added Info: Note that movie paper of any kind from this movie is incredibly rare. We have never auctioned even a single movie paper item from this movie until we received this Danish program!
