An Original Vintage Linenbacked Belgian Travel Poster (measures 24 1/2" x 39 1/4") (Learn More)

Ville D'Ath, the circa 1930s Belgian travel poster advertising for a history and folklore tour to be held on Sunday August 4th in the town of Ath in Belgium. This poster features great art of the Ducasse festival, which is one of the "Masterpieces of the Oral and Intangible Heritage of Humanity". It is an ancient festival that has been held there since the 1300s, and a major part of the festival involves a reenactment of St. George slaying the dragon, and there is a climax to that where men dressed in devil suits use cow bladders to fight dogs that protect St. George, and this poster shows one of the devils being watched by happy parade watchers. If anyone knows more about this poster, please e-mail us and we will post it here.
If you know who did the art (if any), please let us know.
