An Original Vintage Theatrical Linenbacked One-Sheet Movie Poster (1sh; measures 29 1/4" x 40 3/4" [74 x 104 cm]) (Learn More) Merry Maids of the Gay Way, the 1954 James R. Connell burlesque sexploitation movie ("Big-Time Burlesque as you like it!"; "Stars and Strips Galore!"; "Delectable damsels in daring dances! New, different, tantalizing, teasing, daring, torrid") starring Zabuda ("Terrific Turkish Torso Twister"), Billy Reed ("And dozens of deluscious [sic] dancing dolls"), Cherri Lee (known as the "New Orleans Pepper Pot", she opens the movie by tap dancing, before she bumps & grinds), Doreen Cannon, and other burlesque dancers. Apparently this was either all shot at a single burlesque theater, or clips from several theaters. The company that has re-issued many movies such as this, Something Weird Video, has issued this on DVD, and they have identified all the performers of the movie on their website. Certainly, the poster makes this movie seem far better than it actually was, and it has many excellent taglines (but we don't know what "deluscious" means!). Learn More Overall Condition and Pre-Restoration Defects with Quality of Restoration: fair. The poster had paper loss at the crossfolds and in a few other areas in the vertical foldline, and also in the borders. There was darkening along the folds and along the edges. Overall, the poster was in fair condition prior to linenbacking. The poster was mounted onto linen and instead of just leaving it as it was, the "restorer" put some globs of white paint where the paper loss was! I have no idea what their thinking was, but it is certainly quite noticeable, so bear that in mind before placing a bid on this poster. Learn More about condition grades
