An Original Vintage Theatrical Movie Pressbook (pb; measures 13" x 18" [33 x 46 cm]; 28 pages) (Learn More) The Living Desert, the 1953 James Algar Walt Disney desert outdoors wildlife documentary ("Fabulously Beautiful! Excitingly Different! Savagely Real!"; "A true life adventure feature"; "The Living Desert is the story of the eternal desert - a strange world of incredible ugliness and fantastic beauty, seemingly without purpose of life. How anything can live in this land of heat, sun, sand and soundless space is a mystery to most of us. Yet, where we find only a dead and desolate wasteland, nature finds life. Walt Disney's first feature-length True Life Advanture, The Living Desert, pictorially unfolds again the ancient drama of the struggle for existence. It is unlike anything of its kind ever before brought to the motion picture screen. Our cameras have pried into secrets of nature few have ever witnessed. To see it... is to peer back into time a million years."; winner of the Best Documentary Academy Award) featuring Winston Hibler as the narrator NOTE: Click on linked names to see a biography. Important Added Info: Note that this is an unusual pressbook (called a "Special Campaign Book" on the cover) that is actually a very large folder that has two pockets inside and one contains an advertising section and the other contains an exploitation section and a publicity section. This is a throwback to how some pressbooks were in the early 1940s, but was rarely done in the 1950s! Also note that we have provided an image of the front and back covers of this pressbook (if the back cover is not the poster page, we photographed the interior poster page), and of course, the winner of this auction will receive the entire single pressbook we are auctioning (plus any supplements or heralds described above)! Also note that this pressbook is complete and uncut! Given that theater owners received pressbooks partly in order to create their newspaper advertising, and quite frequently cut them up for that purpose, it is rare to find a pressbook that IS complete and uncut! Condition: good, NO CUTS. The pressbook is complete and uncut. There is water staining around the edges of the outer section (see our images). Learn More about condition grades
