Date Sold 9/25/2016Sold For: Login or Register to see sold price. 2 Original Vintage Theatrical 7 1/4" x 9" [18 x 23 cm] Movie Stills (each mounted to a board that measures 10" x 14") (Learn More) Rupert of Hentzau, the 1923 Bert Lytell silent European royalty mistaken identity romantic murder melodrama sequel (a sequel of sorts to "The Prisoner of Zenda", made the year before, where the queen sends a letter to her former lover, who once impersonated the king and saved his life, and Rupert intercepts the letter, and blackmails the queen, and kills the king, intending to have the lookalike take the king's place, but his evil plans are foiled) starring Elaine Hammerstein, Bert Lytell, Lew Cody (in the title role as Rupert of Hentzau), Claire Windsor, and Hobart Bosworth. Note that this movie began where the plot of 1922's "The Prisoner of Zenda" left off, but all of the roles were recast, which seems odd! Also, note that this is a "lost" film which means that no surviving copies are thought to exist. NOTE: Click on linked names to see a biography. Important Added Info: Note that these stills, which measure 7 1/4" x 9" [18 x 23 cm], were glued to boards that measure 10" x 14". Someone in the pre-Internet days guessed that these stills were from "Such a Little Queen", a 1921 movie (which they thought was 1920), and they wrote that information on the mat below each still. However, they were wrong, and these stills are actually from the 1923 "Rupert of Hentzau"! Obviously, one could either trim away the excess or have the stills removed from the boards, but they are glued down quite strongly. Condition: fair to good. The stills are both glued to 10" x 14" boards (see above). Learn More about condition grades
