An Original Vintage Theatrical Folded Polish Movie Poster (measures 23" x 33 1/4" [58 x 84 cm]) (Learn More) Petla (literally translates to "The Noose"), the 1958 Wojciech Has (billed as "W.J. Haus") Polish alcoholism film noir melodrama (about a young man in a small town who is essentially the town drunk; one morning while he is sober, he resolves to go to a treatment clinic, but he must make it through an entire day until the woman who will take him to the clinic gets off work, and will he be able to resist the temptation for an entire day?) starring Gustaw Holoubek, Aleksandra Slaska, Teresa Szmigielowna, Tadeusz Fijewski, Stanislaw Milkski, and Wladyslaw Deoyno. Note that this is a highly regarded Polish film, but it is little known outside Poland, except by major film buffs. Artist: Jozef Mroszczak Important Added Info: Note that this poster, which is a "country of origin" poster for this Polish movie is extremely unusual! It is half the size of a regular polish poster, but it is triangular! It appears they printed two posters at one time ("two up"), and then cut them diagonally, thus getting two unusual posters for the price of one. The poster has a very striking design of the alcoholic star staring at a noose, which forms the "P" of the title! We have seen another Polish poster for this movie that is the regular size, and we don't know if that poster is from the first release or a re-release, but this unusual poster seems surely to be from the first release. We have never seen another triangular Polish poster like this. If anyone knows more about this, please e-mail us and we will post it here. Also note that this poster was folded at one time but has been laying flat for a long time and will be sent rolled in a tube. Condition: good. The poster has a stain in the lower right of the noose and separation in the fold by the stain. It has paper loss in the bottom center and some small tears and tiny paper loss around the edges.
