An Original Vintage Theatrical Paperbacked Window Card Movie Poster (WC; measures 14" x 22" [36 x 56 cm]) (Learn More) Why Be Good, the 1929 William A. Seiter bad girl romantic comedy (a wacky story of a wild girl who spends a night at a roadhouse with a man, and the next day she is late to work, and she is sent to the boss, who is that same man; his father owns the company, and the father insists she be fired, but later, he takes her to an even worse roadhouse to see how she reacts, and when she doesn't like it, he marries her, and tells his father she is a good person!) starring Colleen Moore, Neil Hamilton, Bodil Rosing, John St. Polis, Edward Martindel, Eddie Clayton, Louis Natheaux, Gertrude Messenger, Betty Eagan, Mischa Auer (in an early uncredited role), Andy Devine (in an early uncredited role), Jean Harlow (in an early uncredited role), and Phil Harris (in an uncredited role) NOTE: Click on linked names to see a biography. If you know who did the art (if any), please let us know. Overall Condition and Pre-Restoration Defects with Quality of Restoration: good. The card had pinholes, creases, tears, and some areas of paper loss around the edges of the card and some creases, smudges, scuffs, and a few pinholes scattered throughout the image. Overall, the card was in good condition prior to paperbacking. The card was well backed by a talented restorer, who did not touch up many of the faint smudges and scuffs (and I agree with that decision, because to do so would have required lots of paint, which would have given the card a "heavily restored" look, and I don't feel the smudges and scuffs are all that distracting, and they help establish that this is a genuine 83 year-old original window card!). Obviously, one would prefer to find an example of this window card that had no defects or restoration, but I do not know if another example of this card exists (or if it does, if the owner would consider parting with it!). The poster was pretty well backed, but you can clearly see signs of the above defects and the restoration of the above defects. Learn More about condition grades
