Columbia printed up these stock posters for theaters to use when they showed a movie starring Charles Starrett and Smiley Burnette. The theater owners would either hand-write the titles of the specific movie they were showing, or the movie information would be overprinted in the blank area. NOTE: Click on linked names to see a biography. If you know who did the art (if any), please let us know. Important Added Info: Note that we have never before auctioned this window card! Note that this is a "stock" poster created by Columbia for use for all entries of their "Durango Kid" series. Theaters would order this poster, which had a large blank area at the bottom. They would either be sent a series of paper snipes with the titles of specific entries of the series, and they could paste in each snipe as needed, thus getting many posters for the price of one, or sometimes the studios would overprint posters with specific titles before sending them. Sometimes stock posters are found with blank snipe areas. Most collectors consider them more valuable with a printed snipe attached or with an overprinted title. This particular poster has the title for Two-Fisted Stranger handwritten in that area. Of course, Two-Fisted Stranger is the 1946 Ray Nazarro singing cowboy western musical ("Dynamite in their fists! Desperadoes on their trail!"; "The Durango Kid roars into action!"; "Hear songs of the range!") starring Charles Starrett ("as The Durango Kid"), Smiley Burnette ("The West's No. 1 Comic"), Doris Houck, Zeke Clements ("[of Grand Ole Opry]"), and Charles Murray Jr..
