Date Sold 9/10/2017Sold For: Login or Register to see sold price. A Group of 10 1978 Photographic Negatives (measure from 7 1/2" x 10" [19 x 25 cm] to 8" x 10" [20 x 25 cm]) (Learn More) The Satanic Rites of Dracula (released in the U.S. in 1978 as "Count Dracula and His Vampire Bride" [see below]), the 1973 Alan Gibson English Hammer cult science fiction (sci-fi) vampire horror thriller ("The Masters of Menace Christopher Lee and Peter Cushing They're dead but they're alive..."; "'The King of the undead marries the Queen of the Zombies'"; "Evil begets evil on the sabbath of the undead!") starring Christopher Lee (in the title role as Count Dracula), Peter Cushing (as Professor Van Helsing), Michael Coles, William Franklyn, Freddie Jones, Joanna Lumley, and Pauline Peart (she had been voted Jamaica Island's Number One beach beauty, which got her the part in this movie). Note that Warner Bros. planned to release this film in the U.S. as "The Satanic Rites of Dracula" in 1974, but then decided to shelve it, and later sold the rights to Dynamite Entertainment who first released the movie in the U.S. in 1978 as "Count Dracula and His Vampire Bride". Except for some 8x10 stills from the aborted release, all 1974 U.S. Warner Bros. advertising material was intended for international audiences (they are marked "international" or "foreign"). NOTE: Click on linked names to see a biography. Important Added Info: Note that this (or these, in the case of multiple negatives) was created by and sent by the studio that produced this (in the year noted on this auction) to newspapers, magazines, TV stations, or reviewers, so that they could use them to create the highest quality ads. They can be used to make very high quality reproductions, but bear in mind that we are solely auctioning the physical negatives and NOT the right to reproduce them, so unless they are public domain, the new owner must acquire the rights elsewhere before reproducing them. NOTE THAT THE ITEM(S) YOU ARE PURCHASING IS A "NEGATIVE" THAT HAS A REVERSE IMAGE, AS SEEN IN OUR PHOTO (we also scanned them as well, using a special "negative setting", which reverses the image, so that you can see how the negative appears when you reverse the image, but the buyer of this auction will receive one or more negatives, NOT a positive image, as seen in our special scan). In the case of this lot, because there are more than 4 negatives, we only scanned 4 of them, but the winner will receive TEN negatives. Condition: good to very good. Some of the images have a negative image of the title and credits of the movie within the negative image, and some do not. There are two separated strips that have the title and credits information.
