A 1945 Re-Release Theatrical Folded One-Sheet Movie Poster (1sh; measures 27" x 41" [69 x 104 cm]) (Learn More) One Frightened Night, the 1935 Christy Cabanne family relationship inheritance mistaken identity murder mystery horror comedy ("Mascots mirthful mystery"; "With this superb cast"; a wacky story of an old man who decides to give away a million dollars each to friends, because he has no relatives, but at a dinner where he is announcing this, his long lost granddaughter shows up, but then a second woman shows up claiming to be the granddaughter as well, and then the "first" one is found murdered, but after much confusion and attempted murders, everything is sorted out) starring Charley Grapewin, Lucien Littlefield, Mary Carlisle, Regis Toomey, Arthur Hohl, and Hedda Hopper NOTE: Click on linked names to see a biography. If you know who did the art (if any), please let us know. Important Added Info: Note that we have only previously auctioned one example of this one-sheet, and that was 5 years ago! Also note that the poster is undated, but it has a litho number, and comparing this number to our massive database of litho numbers taken from actual movie posters, we can determine that this poster is almost certainly from the 1945 re-release of this 1935 movie. Interestingly, Mascot closed in 1935 when it and several other studios merged to become Republic, but this poster was not updated to mention Republic studio. A knowledgeable collector tells us that Republic would often use the first release printing plates to create the re-release posters, which is why this poster still mentions Mascot. The only changes they made was to remove the address below the Mascot logo and to add "A Re-Release" below the title. Condition: good to very good. The poster has black writing on the back that slightly bleeds through to the front at left to the left of "Night" in the title. Someone cut out a small rectangular area in the "N" of the word as well, and later reattached it with some brown paper tape that slightly ripples that portion of the poster. It has a few tiny creases, tears, and areas of paper loss along the center vertical foldline and adjacent horizontal folds and there is small paper loss at the lower crossfold. The poster could be displayed as it is, or after linenbacking with some restoration it would display pretty well. Learn More about condition grades
