An Original Vintage Theatrical 8" x 9 3/4" [20 x 25 cm] English Movie Still (Learn More)

Rome Express, the 1932 (released in the U.S. in 1933) Walter Forde English train crime mystery melodrama ("A lifetime of adventure in one night on a train!"; about a mysterious man who gets on board a train going to Rome, and he knows that a valuable painting that was just stolen from a museum was taken on board, but he doesn't know who has the painting, and naturally, the train is filled with suspicious characters, all desperate for money, and the man must discover who is the thief before the train gets to Rome) starring Esther Ralston, Conrad Veidt, Joan Barry, Cedric Hardwicke (in his third film), Harold Huth, Gordon Harker, Donald Calthrop, and Hugh Williams. Note that Conrad Veidt was not Jewish, but his wife was, and he was preparing to leave Germany in the early 1930s, because he could see what was coming. He made this movie in England in 1932, and then returned to Germany to make a couple more movies, and then he and his wife left Germany permanently (and of course, he starred in England's "The Thief of Bagdad" in 1940 and in "Casablanca" in the U.S. in 1942). Tragically, he died in 1943 at the age of 50, or he surely would have had many more memorable performances.
