Date Sold 4/4/2019Sold For: Login or Register to see sold price. An Original Vintage Theatrical Unfolded Half-Sheet Movie Poster (1/2sh; measures 22" x 28" [56 x 71 cm]) (Learn More) Humoresque, the 1920 Frank Borzage silent romantic World War I (WWI) musical prodigy melodrama (based on the novel by Fannie Hurst; about a Jewish woman in New York City who prays that her son will become a musical prodigy, and he does, but he gets mixed up with a woman, and enlists in World War I, and his arm is injured, and he can't play the violin anymore, but when he tells his girlfriend they can't marry, she faints and he catches her, which restores the use of his arm!) starring Alma Rubens, Vera Gordon, Gaston Glass, Dore Davidson, and Bobby Connelly. Note that this movie was remade in 1946, with Joan Crawford and John Garfield in the lead roles, but much of the hokey elements of the original story were thrown out! NOTE: Click on linked names to see a biography. If you know who did the art (if any), please let us know. Important Added Info: Note that first release 1920 movie paper from this movie is incredibly rare. We have only auctioned a single lobby card (and no posters) from this movie until we received this half-sheet! Also note that this half-sheet must be sent in a large flat package that measures approximately 24" x 30" (it could conceivably be rolled, but we would never do that, because it would surely damage the poster). Note that this item needs to be shipped in an oversized flat package. Most of these items absolutely can only be sent in flat packages, and could not possibly be rolled into a tube. Some of them might SEEM like they could be rolled in a tube, like a half-sheet, but they can't. The reason these items are in this auction is specifically because they CAN'T be rolled (because rolling any of them would damage them, even if they somehow can be rolled). So please bear in mind that this item must be sent in a LARGE flat package (the size of the package will depend on the size of the item when ready for shipping), and bear this added expense in mind before placing a bid on it. IN THE CASE OF EXTREMELY LARGE FLAT ITEMS, THE SHIPPING COST WILL BE VERY HIGH, SO PLEASE DO NOT BID WITHOUT THINKING ABOUT THAT ADDED SHIPPING AMOUNT, AND INCLUDE THAT AMOUNT IN WHAT YOU BID (so if you would pay $150, but the shipping is likely $100, then only bid $50). And those who live outside the U.S. and who do not have a U.S. address to ship to SHOULD NOT BID AT ALL ON EXTREMELY LARGE FLAT ITEMS, BECAUSE THEY COST HUNDREDS OF DOLLARS TO SEND OUTSIDE THE U.S. Condition: good to very good. The poster was never folded. There are some creases, smudges, stains, tiny tears, and tiny paper loss around the edges, more so in the left blank border. Since most of the defects are in the blank borders, the poster can certainly be displayed and enjoyed as it is, or it would be an excellent candidate for restoration.
