An Original Vintage Theatrical Folded One-Sheet Movie Poster (1sh; measures 27 1/2" x 41 3/4" [70 x 106 cm]) (Learn More)

Chernomortsy (released in English-speaking countries as "Black Sea Fighters", and perhaps also as "Black Sea"), the 1943 Vasili Belyaev Russian World War II (WWII) Navy documentary ("The Nazis call us 'Black Death'. First official film of Russia's Black Sea Fleet in battle... Human torpedoes... submarine commandos... Russian destroyers... sailors in flames rescued from gun turret... Black Sea Fighters in the war's fiercest bayonet attack... Terror-stricken Nazi infantry running for their lives... Pavlichenko, famous girl sniper, killing her 271st Nazi... all the glory of Sevastopol's heroic defense."; "produced by the Central Newsreel Studios, Moscow, USSR"). The movie was made in 1943 in the middle of World War II, and it dealt with the siege of Sevastopol, and it consisted of actual documentary footage taken of the ships off the coast and the city itself. The New York Times wrote a rave review of this movie when it was released in New York in 1943! The above taglines come from the ONLY movie paper item we have ever seen from this movie, which is a one-sheet that appears to be a "Russian export" one-sheet created by Artkino for the U.S. release of the movie (it has "Produced by the Central Newsreel Studios, Moscow, USSR"), for which Clifford Odets wrote a commentary, which was read by Fredric March. The movie was also released in Russia in a different version, but we don't know if any posters exist for that release. We also don't know if there were any other releases of the movie in other countries, and if so, which version was released. If anyone knows more about this movie, please e-mail us and we will post it here.

If you know who did the art (if any), please let us know.
Important Added Info: Note that this one-sheet measures 27 1/2" x 41 3/4" [70 x 106 cm].

Condition: very good. There is separation and tiny tears scattered in parts of the vertical fold, with some creases in the bottom quarter of that fold. Otherwise, the poster is in pretty nice condition.
