Date Sold 9/15/2016 Sold For: Login or Register to see sold price. 4 Original Vintage Theatrical Swiss Lobby Cards (LCs; measure 13 1/4" x 17 1/2" [34 x 44 cm]) (Learn More) Mater Dolorosa, the 1933 Abel Gance French romantic infidelity family relationship murder crime melodrama (written by Abel Gance; about a married woman who has an affair with her husband's brother, and when she is despondent and tries to commit suicide, her lover prevents her but is himself shot, and he writes a suicide note, thus protecting the wife, but the truth eventually comes out, and after much turmoil, the husband ultimately forgives his wife) starring Jean Galland, Line Noro, Antonin Artaud, Gaston Dubosc, Alice Dufrene, Samson Fainsilber, Jean Servais, and Gaby Triquet. Note that director Abel Gance is of course the man who made the magnificent "Napoleon" in 1927, which was many decades ahead of its time! NOTE: Click on linked names to see a biography. Important Added Info: Note that these Swiss lobby cards were created by the distributor by creating a set of identical stiff board printed backings, with a blank space for a still, and then they would attach a number of stills to a number of different boards, thus creating a set of Swiss lobby cards. Note that the board has metal grommets inserted into each corner, to make displaying of this Swiss lobby card far easier.
