An Original Vintage German Film Program (measures 9" x 11 3/4" [23 x 30 cm]; 8 pages) (Learn More) Die Buchse der Pandora (Lulu); (released in the U.S. as "Pandora's Box"), the classic 1929 G.W. Pabst (Georg Wilhelm Pabst) German silent tragic romantic melodrama (a story about an innocent yet hedonistic dancer and prostitute who dooms every man who encounters her; the movie that launched Louise Brooks into international stardom) starring Louise Brooks, Fritz Kortner, Francis Lederer, Carl Goetz, and Krafft-Raschig. Note that silent star Louise Brooks turned her back on Hollywood in 1929, and went to Europe and made some memorable films, most notably this film. In the early 1930s she attempted to return to Hollywood (minus her trademark flapper hairdo), but met with little success. She resurfaced in the 1960s and wrote books and articles about her life, and acquired a huge cult following. NOTE: Click on linked names to see a biography. Important Added Info: Note that it is the dream of many long time movie paper collectors to have a first release "country of origin" item for this most classic German movie, but the few posters that exist are likely only in museums. This is the third time we have auctioned the first release German program for this movie. The program has a wonderful cover of Louise Brooks full-length, and is filled with fantastic images from the movie! Also note that we have been consigned an amazing group of original German programs from some of the best movies of the late 1920s and early 1930s, including German classics! We are auctioning each of them in their own auction. Also note that we have provided an image of four of the pages of this 8-page program (we did this by opening it and laying it flat and photographing the front and back cover together, and two of the interior pages together). You can see the four of the 8 pages, and can well determine the exact condition of it from our super-sized image, but realize that there are 4 pages you are not seeing. But of course this means that the front cover appears in the top right of our image, but normally, the program would be folded down the center and you would view the cover by itself (and it will be sent folded as was originally intended). Condition: very good. There are light creases around the edges of the covers. There is a faint pencil "1079" in the top left corner. Otherwise, the program is in pretty nice condition!
