An Original 1948 (from the first release of this movie in Germany) Vintage German Film Program (measures 5 3/4" x 8" [15 x 20 cm]; 4 pages) (Learn More) The Lost Weekend, the classic 1945 Billy Wilder (winner of the Best Director Academy Award for this film) family relationship romantic alcoholism alcoholic drinking melodrama ("The screen dares to open the strange and savage pages of a shocking best-seller!"; "Paramount's Sensation"; "From the Novel by Charles Jackson"; "Screen play by Charles Brackett and Billy Wilder"; winner of the Best Picture Academy Award; about a man's difficult fight against alcoholism, and the movie focuses on a specific four day period in his life, where he desperately tries to remain sober with the help of his long suffering girlfriend and brother) starring Ray Milland (winner of the Best Actor Academy Award for this film), Jane Wyman, Phillip Terry, Howard da Silva, Doris Dowling, and Frank Faylen. Note that this was one of Hollywood's first realistic looks at alcoholism that was not heavy handed and one-dimensional, and it has not really dated at all, and it remains a very powerful movie, with great writing, acting, cinematography, and direction. Important Added Info: Note that, immediately after World War II, the U.S. occupied Japan and part of Germany, and many American movies were shown in both countries between 1945 and the end of the occupation. Most of the Japanese posters we have seen from that period and many of the German posters and programs from the same period have a "Motion Picture Export Association" circular printed logo on the poster or program, and apparently this was a program run in conjunction with the U.S. government. Since there were many U.S. servicemen in Japan and Germany at this time, many of these posters and programs have the title written in both Japanese (or German) and in English, and they are from the first release of that movie in that country. Also note that we have provided an image of all the pages of this 4-page program (we did this by opening it and laying it flat and photographing the front and back cover together, and the interior two pages together). This way, you see the entire program, and can well determine the exact condition of it from our super-sized image. But of course this means that the front cover appears in the top right of our image, but normally, the program would be folded down the center and you would view the cover by itself (and it will be sent folded as was originally intended). Condition: very good to fine. Learn More about condition grades
