Hills of Kentucky, the 1927 Howard Bretherton silent German Shepherd canine dog romantic love triangle backwoods melodrama ("From the story 'The Untamed Heart' by Dorothy Yost"; in rural Kentucky, the people are so poor that they need to let their dogs run free; one of them becomes the leader of the pack of now stray dogs, and he becomes known as The Grey Ghost, because he is great at stealing food without being seen, and of course, he is played by Rin Tin Tin) starring Rin Tin Tin (most famous of the movie dog stars, he was Warner Bros.' #1 star in their early lean years and the earnings from his movies kept the studio in the black!), Jason Robards Sr., Dorothy Dwan, Tom Santschi, and Billy Kent Shaeffer

Important Added Info: Note that this is an extremely rare poster! We have only previously auctioned one example of it in all our years of auctioning! Note that this poster has been paperbacked. What is paperbacking? This means the poster was backed onto a paper backing (acid-free), that is similar in feel to that of the original poster (except somewhat heavier). It is a similar process to linenbacking, except that most collectors use linenbacking for one-sheets and paperbacking for half-sheets, inserts, window cards, and lobby cards. Note that because this poster was paperbacked onto a thicker paper backing, it CAN'T be sent rolled (someone could conceivably roll it or try to do so, but we think it would have a strong chance of lessening its condition, so we will only send it in a large flat package, unless the buyer insists, and then they would be responsible for any damage).

Overall Condition and Pre-Restoration Defects with Quality of Restoration: good to very good. Prior to paperbacking, the poster had a few small tears and paper loss scattered in Rin Tin Tin's face, but not his eyes, nose, or mouth, although there was some between his eyes. There were some pinholes, tears, and paper loss around the edges, slightly extending into the image in a few places. There was a 5" tear in the upper left border that extended into the "HI" of "HILLS". Overall, the poster was in good condition prior to paperbacking. The person who paperbacked the poster did a really nice job, and the poster displays really well, but you can see slight signs of the restoration.
