An Original Vintage Theatrical Autographed 8" x 10" [20 x 25 cm] Movie Still (Learn More) Gene Tunney was a boxing heavyweight champion in the 1920s. Like so many other boxing champs, he was signed to make movies, and he made the 1926 film The Fighting Marine! Tunney had an impressive 65 wins in his 85 fight career, and defeated Jack Dempsey twice: first in 1926, taking the world heavyweight title, and defending it again in 1927 (called "The Long Count Fight"). He passed away in 1978 at the age of 81. Important Added Info: Note that this still has been personally autographed (signed) by Gene Tunney! It is personalized to "Wally Oettel", who was an actor who appeared with Mr. Tunney in "The Fighting Marine", which was made the same year this great photo was signed by Mr. Tunney. Mr. Tunney inscribed the photo "To 'The 'Shedder' of Light' Wally Oettel with kind regard.", and we find it hard to believe that this signature could possibly NOT be authentic! Our consignor is a longtime dealer who acquired this signed item among many other purchases in his inventory, and he does not have a certificate of authenticity, but we believe the signature to likely be authentic. As is true of all the signed items we are currently auctioning, we give every buyer 30 days in which to review what they purchased and they can return any item as long as it is within 30 days of the end of the auction. On non-signed items, we give a "lifetime guarantee" on everything we auction, but on signed items, we give the above modified guarantee of 30 days after the auction closes. Condition: very good.
