He brought his son, Carl Laemmle, Jr., into the business, By the 1930s, his son gained control of the studio. But he spent too much money on too many movies, and the studio was in rocky financial shape, and in the mid 1930s, the board of directors forced both father and son out of the studio, and neither made another movie!
