Jahrestag des Gemeinsamen Weltraumfluges UdSSR/DDR (literally translates to "5th Anniversary of the Joint Spaceflight USSR/GDR"), the 1983 East German poster celebrating the Interkosmos program, and featuring an Otto Kummert design of Valery Bykovsky and Sigmund Jahn (the first East German in space) before heading to the Salyut 6 space stations. The Interkosmos program included the allied east-European nations of the Warsaw Pact, CoMEcon, and other socialist nations like Afghanistan, Cuba, Mongolia, and Vietnam. In addition, pro-Soviet non-aligned nations such as India and Syria participated, and even France and Austria, despite they being capitalist nations. Salyut 6 possessed several revolutionary advances over the earlier Soviet space stations, which it nevertheless resembled in overall design. These included the addition of a second docking port, a new main propulsion system and the station's primary scientific instrument, the BST-1M multispectral telescope. Five crew residencies took place over the station's lifespan, including cosmonauts from Warsaw Pact countries as part of the Intercosmos programme (including Sigmund Jahn, the first East German in space).
