An Original Vintage Theatrical Folded Australian Daybill Movie Poster (db; measures 13 1/2" x 30" [34 x 76 cm]) (Learn More) Whisky Galore! (released in the U.S. as "Tight Little Island"), the classic 1949 Alexander Mackendrick English Ealing Studios alcohol sunken ship World War II comedy ("It's Light... It's Bright... It's 100 proof"; "You'll grow tight with delight... on this spree of glee!"; "The funniest picture that ever crossed the Big Drink!"; "from the novel by Compton Mackenzie"; amazingly, this was based on a true story!; in 1941, during World War II, a ship carrying 250,000 bottles of whiskey sank off the coast of Scotland, and the locals tried to "liberate" as much of the whiskey as possible, but a Home Guard captain, an Englishman, wants to "do the right thing" and return the whiskey!) starring Basil Radford, Joan Greenwood, Bruce Seton, James Robertson Justice, Gordon Jackson, and Catherine Lacey NOTE: Click on linked names to see a biography. If you know who did the art (if any), please let us know. Important Added Info: Note that this daybill was used by The Orpheum theater in Sydney, Australia that originally opened in 1935! The theater featured art deco design, two levels and seating for 1735. The theater was sold in the 1970s and converted into a shopping center. Luckily, in 1986, it was lovingly restored and re-opened as the Hayden Orpheum! Condition: good. There is a theater snipe glued across the top of the poster that adds approximately 3 1/2" to the overall height of the poster (the poster was not trimmed and the snipe could surely be removed by a professional restorer, or talented amateur, if one chose to do so). There are creases throughout the poster and there is some tattering around the edges. Learn More about condition grades
