An Original Vintage Theatrical Linenbacked Australian One-Sheet Movie Poster (1sh; measures 27" x 40" [69 x 102 cm]) (Learn More) the international theatrical release Superman in Scotland Yard (released in other English-speaking countries as "Superman and Scotland Yard"), the 1954 George Blair & Thomas Carr comic book superhero action fantasy adventure thriller (a compilation of 3 episodes of "The Adventures of Superman" TV series) starring George Reeves (in the title role as Superman/Clark Kent), Noel Neill (as Lois Lane), Jack Larson (as Jimmy Olsen), John Hamilton, and Robert Shayne. Note that this was one of five compilation movies created out of episodes of this classic TV series. They were apparently solely shown outside the U.S. (which makes sense, since the episodes had been shown on TV in the U.S.), and we know that it is likely that one-sheets and lobby card sets were created for all five compilation features, but one-sheets from them are quite rare, and lobby cards are even more rare (which also makes sense, since lobby cards would have been far less likely to have been used in other countries). The other four titles were Superman and the Jungle Devil, Superman Flies Again, Superman in Exile, and Superman's Peril. The only reason we know so much about these titles is because a pressbook was created for all five features, and we once auctioned it, and it sold for $412! All five movies were released in England and Australia, at least, and perhaps in several other countries, but movie paper from any of those non-U.S. releases is just about as rare as the paper from the U.S. releases. Important Added Info: Note that, as noted above, ANY 1954 movie paper from this movie (or any of the other four compilation movies) is incredibly rare. We have only previously auctioned a single U.S. lobby card and two Mexican lobby cards from this movie until we received this Australian one-sheet! What IS linenbacking? Learn More Overall Condition and Pre-Restoration Defects with Quality of Restoration: very good. The poster had tiny paper loss at the crossfolds and some creases, tiny tears, and tiny bits of paper loss on parts of the folds, with pinholes, tears, and tiny stains around the edges. Overall, the poster was in good to very good condition prior to linenbacking. The poster was nicely backed, and displays well! Learn More about condition grades
