An Original Vintage Theatrical 8" x 10" [20 x 25 cm] Movie Still (Learn More) Johnny Weissmuller was an actor from the 1920s to the 1970s. He was the 1924 Olympic swimming champion, and he set a number of world records, and he never lost a race. In 1940, at the age of 36, he broke his own world record in the 100-yard freestyle, which he had set 13 years earlier, and which stood for another 4 years before finally being broken after 17 years! But of course, he is best remembered for playing Tarzan starting in 1932 (in "Tarzan the Ape Man", followed by "Tarzan and His Mate", and many others!), and later he starred as Jungle Jim in the 1950s AND Jackie Cooper was a famous juvenile actor in the 1920s and 1930s, and who moved into directing and producing, and also did much TV in the 1950s. In later years, he resurfaced as an actor in the Superman movies as Perry White! Some of his movies include: Superman, Skippy and Treasure Island, The Navy Comes Through. He also starred in the TV series "The People's Choice" in the 1950s. Important Added Info: Note that this great candid shows Johnny Weissmuller ("world champion swimmer") spending a day at the Hollywood Athletic Club with Jackie Coogan ("Metro-Goldwyn-Mayer star"). The still is not dated, but it likely dates from 1932 (when Weissmuller hit it big with "Tarzan the Ape Man"). Also note that this still may have been trimmed and it measures 8" x 10" [20 x 25 cm] (see below). Condition: very good. The still measures very slightly under 8" x 10" in both directions, and it may have been very slightly trimmed, or it may have just been made that way. Learn More about condition grades
