An Original Vintage Theatrical Folded Half-Sheet Movie Poster (1/2sh; measures 22" x 28" [56 x 71 cm]) (Learn More) The Loves of Carmen, the 1948 Charles Vidor Spain doomed-romance romantic gypsy adventure melodrama ("If you're ashamed of me, find another woman... I'm Carmen!"; "The stormy loves of the most celebrated temptress of all time!"; "This is Carmen the talk of the world!"; "A story of beauty and savagery... love and hate... splendor and shame..."; "Based on the novel 'Carmen' by Prosper Merimee"; a remake of the 1927 Raoul Walsh movie with Dolores Del Rio in the title role) starring Rita Hayworth (in the title role as Carmen), Glenn Ford (as Don Jose), Ron Randell, Victor Jory, Luther Adler, Arnold Moss, Joseph Buloff, Margaret Wycherly, and Robert Sidneyp NOTE: Click on linked names to see a biography. If you know who did the art (if any), please let us know. Important Added Info: Note that this is an extremely rare poster. We have never auctioned one with this white background and great romantic close-up in all of our years of auctioning and the other style we did auction (with a yellow background and different image) was in 2004! Note also that this poster was folded at one time but has been laying flat for a long time and will be sent rolled in a tube. Condition: good. The poster has several creases scattered in various areas, especially at left and lower left (see our image). It has 6" of separation in the center horizontal fold at center and varying amounts of separation in the ends of each fold (repaired with tape from the back at left and lower center). There are several smudges scattered in many areas, especially to the left of and under the title, and there are some smudges and scuff marks in Hayworth's neck and near her chin. Someone attempted some amateur restoration at the crossfold. It is otherwise "all there" and after some proper restoration the very rare half-sheet poster will display well, but bear in mind the poster's condition and the cost of restoration before bidding on it.
