An Original Vintage Theatrical Folded French One-Panel "Grande" Movie Poster (1p; measures 47 1/4" x 62 1/2" [120 x 159 cm]) (Learn More) The Lone Ranger, the 1938 John English & William Witney masked hero cowboy western serial ("The Lone Ranger A Man of Mystery"; "Republic Pictures presents The Motion Picture Version of 'The Lone Ranger'"; "Republic Serial in 15 Episodes"; "Based on the radio serial, 'The Lone Ranger' created by the radio station WXYZ Detroit, and written by Fran Striker"; the movie is set up unusually, with five men suspected of being The Lone Ranger, and the audience has no clue as to which man it is; they used Billy Bletcher's voice for the actual Lone Ranger, so that when each of the five men spoke their lines, the audience would not be able to pick them out as having the same voice as The Lone Ranger!) starring Lee Powell, Silver Chief (as Silver, the Lone Ranger's horse), Chief Thundercloud (billed as "Chief Thunder-Cloud"; as Tonto), Lynne Roberts, Hal Taliaferro (billed as "Wally Wales"), Bruce Bennett (sometimes billed as "Herman Brix"), Lane Chandler, George Montgomery, William Farnum, John Merton, Ted Adams, Charles King, and Iron Eyes Cody. Also, note that first release posters of any sort from this very first movie version of The Lone Ranger is extremely scarce, likely because it was bought by Lone Ranger fans decades ago, and has never returned to the hobby! NOTE: Click on linked names to see a biography. If you know who did the art (if any), please let us know. Important Added Info: Note that this movie was released in France in 1938, when there was a massive paper shortage. Many posters at that time were printed on the back of other posters, or sections of other posters. This particular poster was printed on the back of a one panel of a French two-panel poster, which had an image that was largely blue and black. Condition: good to very good. The poster was printed on the back of half of a French two-panel poster . There are a few areas of slight bleed-through from the image on the back (see our super-sized image). There is separation, tiny tears, and tiny paper loss on parts of some foldlines. But certainly, a talented restorer could properly back this poster, and after some restoration, this rare and really cool poster will look fantastic! Learn More about condition grades
