An Original Vintage Deluxe 8" x 10" [20 x 25 cm] Stage Play Still (Learn More)

The Red Poppy, the 1922 Henry Baron Broadway stage play production (written by Andre Picard & Francis Carco) starring Bela Lugosi (in his Broadway debut!), Estelle Winwood, Arthur Metcalfe, Lorna Elliott, Paul Broderick, and Grace Gordon. Note that Bela Lugosi had been acting on the stage in Hungary since 1901 (when he was 19), but he leave Hungary until 1919 (when there was a revolution there), and he did not come to America until 1921, and he appeared in this, his first Broadway play, the following year. He was 40 years old, and it would be 9 more years before he would play Dracula!

Important Added Info: Note that it is impossible to say if this still is surely from 1922, when this play was produced, or if it is from a later time. We feel certain the absolute latest it could be from is from the early 1930s, but whether it is from 1922 or from the rest of the 1920s, or from the early 1930s, we can't say, so please do not bid on this wonderful still unless you can accept this uncertainty. However, we are inclined to think it is from when the play first came out, so we are listing as being from 1922. It once had a snipe on the back which likely would have given the answer to when this still is from, but sadly, the majority of the snipe is no longer present. Also note that this is a deluxe still printed on double weight paper stock.

Condition: very good to fine. There is a pair of staple holes and a few tiny scuff marks in each corner. Otherwise, the still is in nice condition!
