An Original Vintage Photographic Transparency (measures 4" x 5" [10 x 13 cm]) (Learn More) The Caine Mutiny Court-Martial, the 1955 Franklin J. Schaffner made-for-TV Navy Naval World War II (WWII) military courtroom lawyer legal crime melodrama (shown on the Ford Star Jubilee series and based on the book by Herman Wouk) starring Lloyd Nolan (as Lt. Cmdr. Philip Francis Queeg), Barry Sullivan (as Lt. Barney Greenwald), Russell Hicks, Stephen Chase, and Robert Gist (as Lt. Thomas Keefer). Note that Lloyd Nolan and Barry Sullivan played the same roles during the 1954 - 1955 Broadway stage play production which was directed by Charles Laughton. Note that this TV movie was made with the stars of the recent Broadway show of the same name (not to be confused with "The Caine Mutiny", the movie which had been made in 1954). The Broadway show included John Hodiak as Lt. Maryk and Hodiak was signed to appear in this TV movie, but he passed away just before filming, so he was replaced by Frank Lovejoy (and Barry Sullivan, who had replaced Henry Fonda as Barney Greenwald at the end of the play's run, recreated his role in this movie). NOTE: Click on linked names to see a biography. Important Added Info: Note that this transparency was released to the media after this TV movie was announced, but before it was filmed, and it shows an image of three of the proposed members of the cast. However, as noted above, John Hodiak passed away after this photo was taken, and he was replaced, and they still distributed the photo, but put a red "X" over his image on the sleeve and noted "be sure to crop out the portion of the photo with John Hodiak who died recently". This transparency has a sticker on the plastic sleeve that has letters and numbers. We took a picture of the transparency in the sleeve so that bidders can see that sticker (if it matters to them). We also made a scan of the transparency without the sleeve, because that is higher quality (so there are two images, but of course, the winning bidder gets the single transparency in the sleeve). This transparency comes with a studio-created snipe within the sleeve that explains about the transparency (see our image). Note that this is a "studio-issued" transparency. What is it? It was produced by the studio but is not the camera original. It is very high quality and was created in quantity by the studios and sent to media outlets or other places that had need of the very highest quality image for reproduction purposes (in newspapers, magazines, or elsewhere). The transparency is in a plastic sleeve (but we removed it and scanned it so that bidders could see just how high quality it is). It will be sent to the winner of the auction in its plastic sleeve. This is a very special auction of 710 extremely rare negatives and transparencies of various sizes, plus lots of sets of 35mm slides. EVERY single one in this auction is either "studio issued" (meaning it was created by the studio and sent to theaters and movie outlets), OR it is a "camera original" (meaning it was the actual negative that was in the camera when the photographer took the picture). Every auction clearly identifies which they are, and there are no items being auctioned that are not either "studio issue" or "camera originals". We have divided them by type and size. Also note that this auction is for one or more transparencies, and every one of the 270 auctions of transparencies we are currently running have been scanned expertly. This auction contains the scan(s) of the transparencies in this auction, and, except in the case of very few larger sets of transparencies, we scanned each one individually (see above for what we did on this specific auction), and we have added an "eMoviePoster.com" watermark over it. The winner of this auction and ONLY the winner of this auction will, upon request, be sent the UNWATERMARKED scan(s) of the transparencies in this auction, which will both save them the time and expense of scanning them themselves, and also allow them to make positive prints of the items they purchased, if they desire. However, if it indicates above that we did not scan all the transparencies in this auction (which is only true of a very few transparencies), then of course we can only send you the photos we took of the ones we did not scan. Condition: very good. Learn More about condition grades
