An Original Vintage German Film Program (measures 8" x 9" [20 x 23 cm]; 6 pages) (Learn More) Mein Leben fur Irland (literally translates to "My Life for Ireland"), the 1939 Max W. Kimmich German anti-British Nazi propaganda romantic melodrama starring Anna Dammann, Werner Hinz, Will Quadflieg, Rene Deltgen, and Eugen Klopfer. Note that this is a "forbidden" movie. This refers to around 60 movies that were made in Germany between 1933 and 1945, during the time the Nazis were in power in Germany. These movies are considered to be propaganda movies, which glorify the Nazi regime and their ideals. Immediately after World War II, a list of over 100 movies that were made between 1933 and 1945 was created, and those movies were not allowed to be shown at any time in Germany or Austria. Over the next decade, around 60 of those movies (including this one) were taken off the list so that they are allowed to be shown (but rarely are), and those movies are known as "forbidden movies", because even though they can now be shown, they could not be shown at all in the years right after World War II. The remaining 40 or so movies are known as "conditional" movies, because they are still not allowed to be shown in Germany or Austria, even in the present day, with the sole exception being when they are shown in an educational context, like at a university, and a speaker talks before and after the movie. All of the "forbidden" movies and "conditional" movies glorify Nazism in some respect, or they were created by directors or featured actors who were prominently associated with the Nazi party. Note that the movie was added to the "forbidden" list due to its anti-British content. Important Added Info: Note that this is a "country of origin" item for this German movie! Note that included with the program is a 3 1/2" x 5 1/2" "Ross autograph card" that has a picture of star Anna Dammann on it (Ross autograph cards were sent to theaters where the stars would make personal appearances, and members of the audience would get the stars to autograph them if they could, but of course, the cards themselves did not come autographed!). The theaters would cut four slits in the upper left of the front cover and insert the "autograph card" into that area, and this is in no way a defect (and actually it is quite rare to find the programs with the "autograph card" still attached!). Note that this program was published by Das Programm von Heute, a different type of program that is far more rare than the regularly seen German programs. The program has six pages, but it is printed on a large single sheet that is tri-folded. Condition: good. Someone wrote a long paragraph on the front cover in the area underneath where the "autograph card" is inserted. It is dated May 2, 1941, so it likely was written by somebody after they saw the movie. We don't speak German, so we don't know what it says.
