An Original Vintage Austrian Film Program (measures 6" x 9" [15 x 23 cm]; 8 pages) (Learn More) Patrioten (released in the U.S. as "Patriots"), the 1937 Karl Ritter German World War I (WWI) romantic airplane aviation pilot melodrama (about a German flyer who is shot down over France and he falls in love with a French actress; the movie is on the conditional list because it has strong anti-Polish and anti-Russian elements) starring Mathias Wieman, Lida Baarova, Bruno Hubner, Hilde Korber, and Paul Dahlke. Note that this movie is not on the "conditional" or "forbidden" list, but lead actress Lida Baarova was from Czechoslovakia, and she was the mistress of Joseph Goebbels. Goebbels wanted to divorce his wife to be with her, but Hitler ordered Goebbels to end the relationship, and she was banned from movies, after the war, she was put in jail for 18 months for having collaborated with the enemy.
