An Original Vintage Theatrical Movie Title Lobby Card (LC TC; measures 11" x 14" [28 x 36 cm]) (Learn More)

Kid Speed, the 1924 Larry Semon & Noel M. Smith silent car racing sports action romantic slapstick comedy short ("Larry Semon Special Comedies") starring Larry Semon (in the title role; known as "Ridolini" in Italy), Dorothy Dwan, Oliver Hardy (in one of his supporting roles, not long before he teamed up with Stan Laurel and once again became a top star, as he had been in the 1910s!; as Dangerous Dan McGraw), Frank Alexander, and Spencer Bell. Note that Spencer Bell was a black African American silent actor who is best remembered for playing Rastus, who became the Cowardly Lion in the 1925 "Wizard of Oz", but his is another sad Hollywood story. He was born in 1887, and was a veteran of World War I, and he started acting in 1922, but due to the prejudices of the time, was only offered stereotyped roles. In 1924, he got his big break in this movie, playing Larry Semon's co-race car driver, and that led to him getting the role opposite Larry Semon in "The Wizard of Oz" the following year. He also made other movies with Larry Semon, but his career went downhill, and he had lesser roles in many of the Mickey McGuire comedy shorts and other comedy shorts. He apparently ran an acting troupe in Harlem in the early 1930s. Sadly, he passed away from complications due to stomach surgery in 1935, and he was only 47 years old. It is surely no coincidence that another of the actors in this movie, Oliver Hardy, who had been a big star in the 1910s, was also in "The Wizard of Oz" in 1925 with Semon and Bell (Hardy played the Woodsman, who became the Tin Man in the 1939 version).

Important Added Info: Note that lobby cards from this movie are extremely rare. We have never auctioned this title card before! Also note that we have a scan of both the front and the back of this lobby card, which should greatly help you see what defects it has.

Condition: very good. There are a few pinholes, faint smudges, and tiny dot stains around the edges. Otherwise, the card is in nice condition. Note that this lobby card is completely unrestored and there is not a single piece of tape on either the front or back!
