An Original Vintage Theatrical Linenbacked Style A One-Sheet Movie Poster (1sh; measures 26" x 39 1/2" [66 x 100 cm]) (Learn More)

The Leatherneck, the 1929 Howard Higgin U.S. Marine Corps best-friends-in-the-military melodrama (from the story by Elliott J. Clawson; set at the end of World War I; about two best American friends in the military who bond with a German man, and the three desert their posts to avenge the murder of Boyd's wife's family) starring William Boyd, Alan Hale Sr., Robert Armstrong, Fred Kohler, Diane Ellis, Jimmy Aldine, and Paul Weigel

If you know who did the art (if any), please let us know.
Important Added Info: Note that the poster was placed on to a very thin linen backing shortly after being printed (this was a common practice before kraftpaper backing). The purpose was to reinforce it, so that it would survive, when passed from theater to theater, and when put up on walls and taken down. The poster could be professionally removed from the original linen and placed on to a proper linen backing. I have done this to several such posters, and they end up looking wonderful! Also note that this one-sheet measures 26" x 39 1/2" [66 x 100 cm], but it does not appear to be trimmed. Please do not bid on it thinking that it is 27" x 41".

Condition: poor to fair. There is a herald attached to the poster at upper right and there is a title snipe across the title area as well as printed snipes in the bottom of the credits and upper left corner of the poster. There are a few tape repairs on the front and back of the poster around the edges. There is small paper loss in the poster along the folds and around the edges. There are creases and smudges throughout the poster from it being folded while backed.
