An Original Vintage Theatrical Tri-Folded International Twenty-Four-Sheet Movie Poster (24sh; measures approximately 9' x 20') (Learn More) The Towering Inferno, the 1974 John Guillermin San Francisco California disaster suspense thriller ("One Tiny Spark Becomes A Night Of Blazing Suspense"; "One minute you're attending a party atop the world's tallest skyscraper. The next... You're trapped with 294 other guests in the middle of a fiery hell."; "The tallest building in the world is on fire. You are there with 294 other guests. There's no way down. There's no way out."; "Hundreds trapped by flames on 135th floor of World's Tallest building"; "Day of Dedication Becomes Night of Blazing Terror"; "Rescue efforts hampered by explosions, High winds"; "Mayor, Senator among Notables Periled"; "Based on the novels 'The Tower' by Richard Martin Stern and 'The Glass Inferno' by Thomas N. Scortia and Frank M. Robinson"; nominated for the Best Picture Academy Award) starring Steve McQueen ("as O'Hallorhan The Fire Chief"), Paul Newman ("as Roberts The Architect"), William Holden ("as Duncan The Builder"), Faye Dunaway ("as Susan The Girl Friend"), Fred Astaire (nominated for the Best Supporting Actor Academy Award for this film; "as Harlee The Con Man"), Susan Blakely ("as Patty The Wife"), Richard Chamberlain ("as Simmons The Son-In-Law"), Jennifer Jones ("as Lisolette The Widow"), O.J. Simpson ("as Jernigan The Security Man"), Robert Vaughn ("as Parker The Senator"), and Robert Wagner ("as Bigelow The Publicity Man"). Note that this movie was originally two competing productions from two different studios, Warner Bros. and 20th Century-Fox (based on two similar books, "The Tower" by Richard Martin Stern, and "The Glass Inferno" by Thomas N. Scortia), and the studios wisely chose to instead collaborate on a single movie, which resulted in a pretty amazing all-star cast, and one of the very best movies of its kind! NOTE: Click on linked names to see a biography. Artist: John Berkey Important Added Info: Note that we never have before auctioned this large 24 sheet poster! Note also that this poster was stamped "FOREIGN" which means it was printed for use outside the United States (there would also have been posters stamped "DOMESTIC" for use within the United States). Often, the "FOREIGN" posters would have a different (sometimes racier) image than that for the one used in the United States. Also note that this twenty-four sheet was printed in 12 sections designed to overlap. Finally, note this 24-sheet poster was folded in a way that makes it resemble a tri-folded six-sheet (only much larger, of course, as there are more sections). But the length and width of the folded 24-sheet is just about the same as that of a folded six-sheet or three-sheet. This means that this 24-sheet needs to be sent in an oversized flat package, which will measure roughly 16" x 38", and approximately 2" high, and it will cost more to send than a regular sized package. Note that this item needs to be shipped in an oversized flat package. Most of these items absolutely can only be sent in flat packages, and could not possibly be rolled into a tube. Some of them might SEEM like they could be rolled in a tube, like a half-sheet, but they can't. The reason these items are in this auction is specifically because they CAN'T be rolled (because rolling any of them would damage them, even if they somehow can be rolled). So please bear in mind that this item must be sent in a LARGE flat package (the size of the package will depend on the size of the item when ready for shipping), and bear this added expense in mind before placing a bid on it. IN THE CASE OF EXTREMELY LARGE FLAT ITEMS, THE SHIPPING COST WILL BE VERY HIGH, SO PLEASE DO NOT BID WITHOUT THINKING ABOUT THAT ADDED SHIPPING AMOUNT, AND INCLUDE THAT AMOUNT IN WHAT YOU BID (so if you would pay $150, but the shipping is likely $100, then only bid $50). And those who live outside the U.S. and who do not have a U.S. address to ship to SHOULD NOT BID AT ALL ON EXTREMELY LARGE FLAT ITEMS, BECAUSE THEY COST HUNDREDS OF DOLLARS TO SEND OUTSIDE THE U.S. Condition: good to very good. The poster has some slight discoloration, tears and areas of paper loss along a few portions of the outer edges of some folds (see our image). Some pieces are in pretty nice condition.
