The first motion picture from the creators of 'The Bridge On The River Kwai.'"; "A mighty spectacle of action and adventure!"; produced by Sam Spiegel and David Lean; winner of the Best Picture Academy Award) starring Alec Guinness, Anthony Quinn, Jack Hawkins, Jose Ferrer, Anthony Quayle, Claude Rains, Arthur Kennedy, Omar Sharif (nominated for the Best Supporting Actor Academy Award for this film; "as 'Ali'"), Peter O'Toole (nominated for the Best Actor Academy Award for this film; in the title role as T.E. Important Added Info: As noted below, these are the extremely rare roadshow lobby cards for this classic movie. As we say below, this is the first time we have been consigned more than two of these at one time! Read below for more on these. Note that we refer to these as a "group of" instead of a "set of", because 10 of the 12 cards are present, and we would be fearful that saying "a set of 10" would cause people to think it was a complete set, when there are 12 in all. Note that when this classic movie had its first limited "roadshow" release, we are told that a special set of 12 deluxe full color lobby cards were created (but we were never consigned a complete set of 12). Each of these have no writing on them except for a small "PRINTED IN U.S.A." at bottom right, and they have an unusual "laminate-like" coating on the front (but the cards are NOT laminated, and the coating is not on the back, and it is how the cards were created). Once the movie went into its general release, a set of regular lobby cards were created. Because we were consigned all 12 of these roadshow lobby cards at separate times, we know that all of them are "scenes", with no title card. These roadshow cards are incredibly rare! Until 2017, we had been consigned one or two of them at a time, and we had auctioned a total of 19 of them over all our years of auctioning. In 2017, we were consigned a set of 10 of the 12, including a few we had never auctioned before (and because we had previously auctioned the "missing" two from that set, we now know for certain that there were 12 in the set). It would likely take many years for a collector to complete a set of these! Condition: good to very good.
