Date Sold 9/19/2010Sold For: Login or Register to see sold price. An Original Vintage Theatrical Movie Glass Slide (measures approximately 3" x 4" [8 x 10 cm]) (Learn More) Rogue of the Rio Grande, the 1930 Spencer Gordon Bennet Texas cowboy western musical comedy ("The romantic adventures of a handsome bandit-"; "The adventurous romance of a dashing lovable bandit chief.") starring Jose Bohr (in the title role as El Malo), Myrna Loy, Raymond Hatton, Carmelita Geraghty, and Walter Miller. Note that the makers of this movie wisely recognized what an asset they had in a very young Myrna Loy, and they wisely featured her prominently in the center of the advertising for the movie! Note that male lead Jose Bohr's name may be unfamiliar to you, but he was a most unusual person, and a real "renaissance man". He was born in Germany, but moved to Chile, and he became a film maker, actor, songwriter and composer of tangos, among other professions! He starred in the first Spanish-speaking film produced in Hollywood, and he appeared as an actor in this Hollywood movie, but he spent most of his career making movies in Mexico, Venezuela, Cuba, and Argentina! Bohr lived a long life before passing away in Norway in 1994 at the age of 92. NOTE: Click on linked names to see a biography. Important Added Info: Note that glass slides were designed to be put in a special projector that would project the image onto a movie screen (they use exactly the same concept as 35mm slides). We have taken a digital photo of each that shows the general condition of the overall slide and holder, and we have also made a digital scan that shows the glass image well, but does not show the holder (except as a dark outline). Condition: fair. There is a vertical crack running down the right side of Loy's face and down the entire slide. The theater that used this slide wrote the days the movie was playing in the play dates section at the bottom of the glass. Learn More about condition grades
