An Original 1982 (from the first release of this movie in Italy) Vintage Theatrical Folded Italian Locandina Movie Poster (measures 12 3/4" x 27 3/4" [32 x 70 cm]) (Learn More) Mad Max 2 (released in the U.S. in 1982 as "The Road Warrior"), the 1981 George Miller Australian post-apocalyptic action thriller sequel ("Just one man can make a difference."; "In the future, cities will become deserts, roads will become battlefields and the hope of mankind will appear as a stranger."; "When all that's left is one last chance, pray that he's still out there ...somewhere!"; "Mad Max meets the challenge!"; "Written by Terry Hayes, George Miller with Brian Hannant"; "Music conducted and composed by Brian May") starring Mel Gibson (in the title role as Mad Max Rockatansky), Bruce Spence (as The Gyro Captain), Michael Preston (as Pappagallo), Max Phipps (as The Toadie), Vernon Wells (as Wez), Kjell Nilsson (as The Humungus), Emil Minty (as The Feral Kid), and Virginia Hey. Note that this movie was first released in Australia as a sequel to Mad Max, and was titled Mad Max 2. The movie was a giant hit and distributors wanted to release it in the U.S., but since the first movie had only had a very limited release in the U.S., they re-titled it so as to not confuse audiences (but they printed a limited number of international "Mad Max 2" one-sheets in the U.S., which are far more rare than the "The Road Warrior" U.S. one-sheets). NOTE: Click on linked names to see a biography. Artist: Rudy Obrero Important Added Info: Note that this poster was folded at one time but has been laying flat for a long time and will be sent rolled in a tube. Note that it is difficult to accurately date Italian posters, and some unmarked re-release posters can be extremely difficult to distinguish from first releases, so please bear that in mind before you place a bid. We used our best information to date this poster, but we can't always guarantee that the Italian posters we sell are not from an unmarked re-release, but this will only prove to be true in a very tiny number of cases. Note that this item (and others we are auctioning in this set of auctions) come to us from the estate of Lee Sanders. Mr. Sanders was a nationally recognized projectionist, film poster collector, and union activist who passed away last year, and the net proceeds from the sale of his varied and eclectic collection will be donated to promote film studies at the Besant School of Happy Valley in Ojai, Ca. Condition: very good. Learn More about condition grades
