Louis Lazare Hoche was a French soldier who rose to be general of the French Revolutionary army in the 1790s. He is best known for his victory over Royalist forces in Brittany, and his is one of the names inscribed under the Arc de Triomphe in Paris. Jean-Baptiste Kleber was a French general during the French Revolutionary Wars. He volunteered for the French Army in 1792, and rose through the ranks. Kleber served in the Rhineland during the War of the First Coalition, and also suppressed the Vendee Revolt. He retired but returned to military service to accompany Napoleon in the Egyptian Campaign. When Napoleon left Egypt to return to Paris, he appointed Kleber as commander of the French forces. Kleber was assassinated by a student in Cairo in 1800. If you know who did the art (if any), please let us know. Condition: very good. The poster has darkened somewhat. It has a line of slight discoloration down the left 8" of the poster. It has some tears and tiny paper loss around the edges. But overall, the poster has survived in pretty nice condition, and its defects are primarily in the blank borders. Learn More about condition grades
