A 1918 Re-Release Theatrical Movie Lobby Card (LC; measures 11" x 14" [28 x 36 cm]) (Learn More)

Two Orphans, the 1915 Herbert Brenon silent Paris France family melodrama (based on the novel by Adolphe d'Ennery & Eugene Cormon) starring Theda Bara, Jean Sothern, Williaim E. Shar, Herbert Brenon, Gertrude Berkeley, and Frank Goldsmith. Note that there are several things unusual about this movie, which was based on a play, which was based on a novel. The novel was first turned into a play in 1876, and Kate Claxton originated the role of Louise, and that made her a star, and she played the role over and over (although there was a giant fire at a theater she performed at in Chicago in 1876, which killed many people). There were three silent movies adapted from this in 1909 to 1911, and then this version was made in 1915, with Theda Bara in the lead role. The only movie paper from this movie we have ever seen is a glass slide, and also a lobby card that has "The Kate Claxton 1918 Version of The Two Orphans" on it, and we don't know if that simply means that this is a 1918 re-release of the 1915 movie, or if it means the movie was re-edited (and we don't know why Kate Claxton is given that prominent billing). If anyone knows more about this, please e-mail us and we will post it here.
NOTE: Click on linked names to see a biography.
Important Added Info: Note that this is the lobby card referred to above. Since it has 1918 on it, we assume it is a 1918 re-release of the 1915 movie, but it could mean something else. If anyone knows more about this, please e-mail us and we will post it here. Movie paper of any kind from this movie is beyond rare! Also note that we have a scan of both the front and the back of this lobby card, which should greatly help you see what defects it has.

Condition: very good to fine. Note that this card is completely unrestored and there is not a single piece of tape on either the front or back!
