An Original Vintage Folded German Advertising Poster (measures 46 3/4" x 66" [119 x 168 cm]) (Learn More)

Oberst, the circa 1935 German poster advertising cards that were created by the German cigarette company, Oberst. The translation of the words under the company name on the poster is "New Images, The Post-War Period", and it would seem that the poster is advertising a newly created set of cigarette cards. The poster has a wonderful image of a magnifying glass over a globe of the Earth, and within the glass are many Nazi German soldiers! We have seen an image of a German cigarette card album on the Internet that has this exact same image, but with different coloring, and it lacks the "Oberst", but it also has "1918-1934" under the tagline, and the person who owned the album said that the album was made in 1935 and contained images from those years, which certainly makes sense. Therefore, we think this poster was likely advertising that album. The poster was printed in two sections, and the bottom section was trimmed diagonally below the tagline, and there may be some portion trimmed from the top of the poster. We don't know what would have been in that bottom right area, but the poster displays well as it is. If anyone knows more about this poster, please e-mail us and we will post it here.
If you know who did the art (if any), please let us know.
Important Added Info: Note that this German advertising poster was printed in 2 sections designed to overlap. The bottom section has been trimmed at a diagonal and the poster now measures 46 3/4" x 66" [119 x 168 cm].

Condition: fair to good. The bottom section was trimmed at a diagonal (see above). It also appears that the top of the poster was trimmed, but we don't know by how much (we would guess it is a small amount). The poster was once mounted to something and there are some stains on the back. There are stains and tiny paper loss in the top left corner and some tiny bits of paper loss in other parts of the poster (likely caused when it was removed from what it was mounted to). Please bear the condition of this poster in mind before placing a bid on it.
