An Original Vintage Folded Austrian Political Poster (measures 25 1/4" x 37 1/4" [64 x 95 cm]) (Learn More)

Christlich Soziale Partei (literally translates to "Christian Social Party"), the 1919 Austrian post-World War I (WWI) political poster promoting the Christian Social Party, with a slogan that translates to "The Returnees call: Give us work, give us bread! We want to rebuild Germany/Austria. Anyone who wants to help, choose the Christian Social Party!". Note that this poster features art of a returning soldier with two children by Franz Griessler. Note that the Christian Social Party was formed in Austria in 1891. Its purpose was to keep Austria from being absorbed into Germany, and because Austrians were primarily Catholic, while Germans were primarily Protestant, religion was an important part of the party. It existed until 1934, and in 1938, Germany finally annexed Austria.

Condition: very good. There is slight ink transfer in the top center white background area and some minor fold and border wear.
